L’architecture qui dégenre is a platform that challenges the dominant order, builds equality and inspires optimism. The non-profit organisation is a space for sharing practices and knowledge relating to architectural, artistic and urban equality.
Founded in 2018 by architect Apolline Vranken, L’architecture qui dégenre has organised Matrimony Days in Belgium since 2019 and the Matrimony Season since 2021. It devises and organises feminist guided tours, training sessions and workshops on gender and the city, as well as supporting architects, urban planners and decision-makers in integrating gender as a dimension of architectural projects.
Sections & tools
The non-profit organisation L’architecture qui dégenre consists of eight different sections, each with its own specific focus: awareness-raising (guided tours and lectures), training, architecture, youth, queer, women’s* heritage, platform and advocacy. The underlying idea is to share projects and offer our expertise as widely as possible. Each section is coordinated by one or more members of the organisation.

Team
Since its creation, L'architecture qui dégenre has continued to grow, and to include more and more experts from diverse backgrounds in its teams. Thus, architects, anthropologists, archaeologists, artists, activists, etc. weave and nourish the different projects of the organization.
Currently, seven members are in charge of coordinating our various poles and organizing our recurring activities. They are joined by a support committee charged with helping to design the program for the Matrimony Days, as well as several guides, photographers and graphic designers who enable L'architecture qui dégenre to work with trusted experts and feed our work processes with their knowledge.
